Neat state park. Note the tram tour is weather dependent. When we were there on a Sunday a sign at the entrance said it was not running. The CCC museum is neat and has the history of several of the early state parks. We rode our hybrid bikes on the paved loop trail, its a one way loop and has several cross trails. We took one of the cross trails to the bike trail that runs along the north side of the park, the ranger said it was harder packed, which it was, a road but grass. it is elevated over the swamp areas and had a nice bridge. This trail ends up intersecting with the county road 634 that runs through the park. This is a very wide hard packed dirt road, with lots of locals who use it, and some drive very fast so be aware and follow the rules of the road. The ranger had told us that the other bike trails near the camping area and entrance to the park are deep sugar sand, so we did not even go look at those trails. There are several short hikes in the park, dogs and bikes not allowed. Neat park, bring bug spray, it is part swamp! We will return to explore some more.
Cool place, great nature walk. It's amazing when the water is higher, this past year (2017) they were very dry. I've done it both ways and it's definitely better when everything is underwater. Great little museum with a ton of Florida history. It won't take all day to go through everything, but the time there is worth it.
Great place to camp for tent camping or RV's. The bathrooms are well taken care of and the campground was quiet. They offer firewood for sale at the front office and there is a plethora of trails for discovering the hammocks. There are so many awesome old trees here and many places for kids to bike. I highly recommend it.If you aren't from Florida, tent camping is only really great in the "winter" months when it is dry and cool and the predators are fewer in number.
Very good park. Beautiful nature and clean park. Good prices for camping places. The only con was the restrom located in the camping area which was old and not clean. Anyway you can use the main restrooms which were ok but a little bit far.
Nothing can be hung from trees and there are no posts for lanterns, etc.
The park is beautiful. We saw gators, an otter, and tons of other wildlife and flowers. The campground is very open. This is great if you're camping in groups, but not so great if you want a little space to yourself since the neighbors are right on top of you.
